ABC Lore: Alphabet Color Story is a free app with an interactive picture book style. It contains page after page of animated letters, with the user simply flicking from one cartoon clip to another so that they can see the next animation.
There are a lot of alphabet-themed apps found online, from ABC Song Kids Nursery Rhymes to Kids ABC Trains Game. While most are safe for small children, ABC Lore: Alphabet Color Story has some comparatively off-color humor.
Two modes to use
ABC Lore: Alphabet Color Story has two modes. The first shows you a succession of letter characters one after the other. Each one will appear on the screen and say its name in a distinctive voice. The various letters are given different characters. For example, "B" floats on the screen like a butterfly. Completing the mode involves seeing every letter.
Word and letter mode
The second mode uses the same set of letter characters to spell out entire words. These are again given one after the other in alphabetic order: animal, balloon, box, etc. Again, each is given an animated sequence, so 'animal' has letters turning into animals, 'balloon' involves inflation, and so on.
Off-color humor
While the subject matter would imply that ABC Lore: Alphabet Color Story is an educational game for very small children, some of the humor raises questions about this assumption. For one, the "Box" animation has a monstrous jack-in-the-box that is eating characters with fanged jaws. This might be unsettling for younger children, although harmless for older kids.
Older kids might enjoy it
ABC Lore: Alphabet Color Story is not strictly speaking a game, as there is no challenge to flicking through the pages. Its ideal audience might be children who want something simple but are old enough to appreciate the more violent jokes that sometimes crop up.
